Pakistan cricket icon Wasim Akram found himself at the center of an unexpected social media uproar after a viral post incorrectly claimed he was divorced. This post, which came from a parody account on X (formerly Twitter) called ‘Divorced XI,’ listed cricketers who have experienced divorce, including names like Ravi Shastri, Javagal Srinath, Dinesh Karthik, and Shikhar Dhawan.

Adding to the oddity of the situation, Yuzvendra Chahal was humorously tagged as the ‘impact player.’ However, the real shocker was the false mention of Wasim Akram, which prompted a strong reaction from his wife, Shaniera Akram.

Shaniera quickly jumped in to clear the air. She called out the misinformation and took to social media to criticize the account that spread the rumor. Sharing the post from ‘Out Of Context Cricket,’ she stated:

“Hey @GemsOfCricket. You guys are definitely ‘out of context’ and from what I can see, you’re also out of correct and reliable information!”

Her straightforward reply quickly caught on, with fans cheering her on for putting those unfounded rumors to rest.

Despite what the viral post suggests, Wasim Akram has been happily married to Shaniera Thompson since 2013. He was previously married to Huma Mufti in 1995, and they had two sons together. Sadly, Huma passed away in 2009 from multiple organ failure in a Chennai hospital.

Four years later, Akram found love again and tied the knot with Australian Shaniera Thompson. They welcomed their daughter in 2014 and have been enjoying a joyful life together ever since.

Wasim Akram is in Dubai right now

The former captain of Pakistan is currently in Dubai, taking part in broadcasting duties for the Champions Trophy. He’s on the expert panel for a Pakistan-based show called ‘Dressing Room,’ alongside India’s Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajay Jadeja, and Nikhil Chopra.

On top of that, Akram is also involved with the ICC broadcasting team.

Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket has had a tough time, as Mohammad Rizwan’s team faced a rough Champions Trophy, getting knocked out after losing to both New Zealand and India. In their crucial match against India, they fell apart against Virat Kohli’s outstanding performance, losing by six wickets and ending their tournament hopes.

Their exit was confirmed when New Zealand beat Bangladesh earlier this week.
