Shan Masood Clashes with Media Over Resignation Question: "No One Will Tolerate Disrespect"
1 month ago | 5 Views
Pakistan's captain Shan Masood had a tense moment with a reporter after the team lost the second Test in the series against the West Indies at Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday. The reporter bluntly asked if Masood intended to step down from the captaincy or if he was waiting for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to make that decision for him.
Masood clearly wasn't happy with the question and lost his temper a bit. He tried to brush it off and asked another reporter to go ahead with their question. But the same journalist pressed on, wanting an answer to his query first.
In response, Masood stated, “If you want to discuss facts, go ahead, but your information is totally wrong. I respect your opinion, but there’s a lot of disrespect in your question. You can’t disrespect players, including me and my teammates. We all represent Pakistan and strive for results, but no one will put up with that kind of disrespect. Koi tolerate nahi karega (No one will tolerate this).”
"You need to get that straight. If you want to criticize someone, that’s fine, but we’re all Pakistan players," he added.
PCB calls the shots
Shan Masood mentioned that the cricket board in the country holds the final say, and players have to go along with whatever decisions are made.
"You need to recognize that we're trying to do something unique here, and it's worth looking into. Sure, anyone can look things up online, but we're actually putting in the effort, and we've managed to win three out of our last four home Tests," Masood explained.
On Monday, the West Indies pulled off a stunning 120-run victory over Pakistan in the second Test of their two-match series. This defeat left Pakistan at the bottom of the points table for the 2023-2025 WTC cycle.
The West Indies' win is particularly impressive since they were struggling at 54/8 in their first innings.
"We've been dealing with this issue of not being able to dismiss the lower order quickly for a while now, and we need to figure out a solution. In Test cricket, it's crucial to seize the chances that come your way as a team," Masood added.
