India, Jan. 23 -- Arshad Nadeem has emerged as the most celebrated athlete in Pakistan at present. Following his remarkable achievements at the Paris 2024 Olympics, he has eclipsed the fame of the nation's cricket icons. Nadeem secured a gold medal, marking him as the first Pakistani athlete to earn an Olympic medal, while also establishing a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97m in the final. This throw ranks as the sixth-longest in history when considering only the best throw from each competitor.

In a recently viral video, Arshad is seen instructing cricket legend Shahid Afridi on the technique of javelin throwing at a school in Jeddah. The footage captures the excitement of fans who are visibly thrilled by the presence of both Arshad and Afridi.

Nadeem's outstanding performance in Paris resulted in Neeraj Chopra's inability to defend his title, leading the Indian athlete to settle for a silver medal. In a recent interview, Neeraj attributed his defeat to Arshad to ongoing injury concerns. Speaking to Lallantop, he remarked, "I typically do not place pressure on myself to secure a gold medal. When I compete, I approach it as if I am a new athlete. I do not dwell on my past Olympic performances or my previous throws. My primary focus is on my current competition. It is essential to be in good physical and mental condition to achieve a significant throw."

"I am currently facing some challenges. I have been dealing with a groin injury for an extended period, which hampers my training efforts. Since 2018, I have felt capable of achieving a substantial throw, and I am aware of my potential. The pain I endured has significantly hindered my career. In terms of consistency, I have regularly thrown distances of 88m and 89m. I believe I should have achieved greater distances by now, but injuries can impede progress."

"To address this issue, I may require surgery. I have not yet made a definitive decision, as groin injuries are particularly complex. The risks involved make recovery challenging. Currently, I am focusing on strengthening the area," he added.
