Sachin Tendulkar is often hailed as the greatest batsman in cricket history. Known as the Master Blaster, he made his mark by thriving even in the toughest situations. Anyone who grew up in the '90s remembers how the TV would get switched off the moment he got out. Even after hanging up his bat, Sachin is still on a mission for excellence and is actively working to improve society.
Recently, the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation marked its five-year milestone. During the celebration, Sara Tendulkar, Sachin's daughter, officially stepped in as the Foundation's director.
Sara expressed her genuine desire to be involved with the foundation and to continue the meaningful work her parents have started.
"I've come to understand that the foundation's initiatives have a wide-reaching impact. They touch the lives of children, their families, and entire communities. This is the kind of work I want to be part of," Sara shared.
"It's incredibly humbling to join my parents and our NGO partners in pushing these efforts forward. In the past five years, we've positively impacted over a hundred thousand children across India. That's one lakh lives transformed and one lakh reasons to keep pushing ahead," she added.
Chris Martin, the frontman of Coldplay, showed up to celebrate the five-year milestone. The event also saw former cricketers like Pravin Amre, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, and Ajay Jadeja in attendance.
The journey has been really fulfilling
Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar set up their Foundation to help those in need, focusing on health, education, and sports development.
"I grew up with a huge love for cricket, and the best thing my parents gave me was the freedom to pursue my dreams. That's what I want to offer to others. We've made strides, but there's still more to do," Sachin shared during a heartfelt speech.
"The past five years have been nothing short of amazing. This journey has been rewarding, fulfilling, and truly touching," he continued.
Anjali also spoke on stage, saying, "I often thought about what it must be like for Sachin to step up to bat in front of so many fans. I probably should have kept those thoughts to myself since he insisted I join him on the pitch today as an opener."
"This evening is particularly special because, for the first time, we have all our partners gathered here with our friends and family," she added.
