Sanju Samson's Tactical Brilliance: Convincing DRS Call Results in Buttler's Wicket
2 months ago | 5 Views
Sanju Samson managed to persuade India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav to go for a review, and it turned out to be a smart move. This led to the hosts dismissing England’s captain Jos Buttler during the third T20I of the five-match series at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Tuesday.
In the last ball of the 10th over, Varun Chakravarthy bowled a well-placed delivery. Buttler attempted a massive reverse sweep, and the ball narrowly missed his gloves before being caught by Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper immediately raised his hands in celebration, appealing for the wicket.
Despite his enthusiasm, the on-field umpire didn’t give it out. Sanju then urged Suryakumar Yadav to review the decision, and after some back-and-forth, the Indian captain agreed. It was all Sanju’s call, as even Varun Chakravarthy seemed uncertain.
When they checked the UltraEdge, there was a slight spike as the ball passed the bottom edge! Sanju Samson nailed it, and India claimed their second wicket. Buttler headed back to the pavilion after scoring 24 runs off 22 balls.
Sanju Samson made up for his earlier mistake by successfully convincing Suryakumar to use the DRS for an LBW call against Ben Duckett, after he had previously wasted a review.
In T20s, this marks the fourth time Varun Chakravarthy has dismissed Jos Buttler in just seven innings. Buttler has faced 48 deliveries from the Indian bowler, managing to score 76 runs, but he’s been out four times.
Mohammed Shami is back in action
Pacer Mohammed Shami is back in India's lineup after a year away from the game. He had been out due to an ankle injury, but he's finally made his return to international cricket.
Shami took the place of Arshdeep Singh in the squad, as Arshdeep has been given a break for the match in Rajkot.
Earlier, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bowl. This marks the third consecutive time that Suryakumar has had luck on his side with the toss.
England, on the other hand, has kept their playing XI unchanged from the second T20I.
