"Sanju Samson's Father Breaks Down: Fears for His Son's Safety Amid KCA Controversy"

2 months ago | 5 Views

Sanju Samson's father, Viswanath, has accused the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) of orchestrating a conspiracy against his son following the batter's exclusion from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad. Samson's omission was attributed to his absence from a mandatory training camp. However, the situation escalated, revealing underlying tensions between Samson and the KCA. After he was also left out of India's ODI squad for the upcoming series against England and the Champions Trophy, KCA President Jayesh George criticized Samson, suggesting that he was solely responsible for his predicament due to his withdrawal from the camp, which he communicated via a brief text message.

In reaction, Viswanath condemned certain individuals within the KCA for targeting his son. Yet, within 48 hours, he made serious allegations against the association, claiming it was damaging his son's reputation and expressing concerns that they might use him as a scapegoat for their own failures. Viswanath emotionally appealed to other cricket associations, asking them to offer his son a chance to play.

"I became aware about six months ago that there were plans against Sanju. The KCA was manoeuvring in such a way that he would leave Kerala. We felt powerless against them. There are directors involved; you cannot confront them or challenge their authority. My son is not safe. They will assign blame to Sanju for everything, and the public will accept it. Therefore, I genuinely wish for my son to cease playing cricket for Kerala. If any other state is willing to invite my son to play, I am ready to advocate for that," Viswanath stated to Sports Tak.

'Don't know what wrong have we done to them'

Viswanath, a former football player and retired police officer, recounted how his son has committed his entire life to the sport of cricket. He expressed his apprehensions regarding Sanju's association with the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), stating a preference for his son to distance himself from the organization. He mentioned that should other cricket boards present opportunities to Sanju, they would be prepared to relocate from Kerala.

"Sanju is just one individual, while the KCA is a large and influential entity. I fear they may devise conspiracies against my son. I cannot comprehend their motives; we have not wronged them or anyone else. Throughout his life, Sanju has found joy solely in cricket. Apart from the cricket field and practice, he has concentrated on nothing else. He has dedicated three decades to the sport, yet he now faces isolation. I have reached my limit; I wish to extricate him from this association (KCA)," Viswanath remarked.
