Rajasthan Royals are facing a tough blow as their captain, Sanju Samson, is sidelined with an injury. On Monday, the team provided an update on his situation, and unfortunately, it doesn't look promising. Currently, Rajasthan is struggling with a four-match winless streak in the IPL 2025 season, sitting in eighth place with just four points from eight games.

Samson has an abdominal injury and missed the match against LSG, where Riyan Parag stepped in as captain. He had already been playing as a batting Impact Player in the first three matches due to a finger injury but suffered another setback during the game against DC on April 16, which forced him to retire without returning to the field, as DC ended up losing in a Super Over.

After undergoing scans last week, he was officially ruled out. In his absence, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut, opening the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal against LSG, making him the youngest player ever to debut in IPL history.

In a recent update, the Rajasthan Royals announced that captain Sanju Samson will not be making the trip to Bengaluru for their next match against RCB. Instead, he will stay at the team's home base to recover with the help of some medical staff.

The statement explained, "Sanju Samson is currently in recovery and will be with select RR medical personnel at the team's base. He won't be traveling to Bangalore for the upcoming game against RCB as part of his rehabilitation process."

It also mentioned, "The team management is keeping a close eye on his recovery and will evaluate his return on a game-by-game basis."

With their campaign needing a boost, RR is running out of time as they prepare to face RCB on Thursday. Meanwhile, RCB sits in third place in the standings and recently secured a win against PBKS.
