Sanjiv Goenka's Glum Entry into LSG Dressing Room After Heated Rishabh Pant Chat

Lucknow Super Giants appeared poised to secure a victory against Delhi Capitals until they encountered Ashutosh Sharma, who dramatically turned the tide and led the Capitals to triumph in their IPL 2025 opener in Visakhapatnam by successfully chasing down a target of 210 runs. The two points that seemed destined for LSG ultimately went to DC. However, franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka chose not to dwell on the loss and instead focused on uplifting his players' spirits.
After addressing the defeat alongside Pant in post-match footage, Goenka entered the team dressing room. His remarks significantly transformed the players' expressions from disappointment to smiles. He acknowledged the unsatisfactory outcome, expressing belief that LSG could have defended their total, but emphasized that it is still early in the season. He noted that the players' determination to fight until the end bodes well for the team's atmosphere.
"There are many positives to take from this match. Our performance during the Powerplay in both batting and bowling was exceptional. Such outcomes are part of the game. We are a young team; let’s focus on the positives and look ahead to the 27th. We hope for a better result then. Yes, tonight's result is disappointing, but it was a great game overall. Well done," Goenka stated, prompting a resounding round of applause.

How the game turned out
As highlighted by the owner, LSG delivered an impressive performance in their season opener. After concluding IPL 2024 in seventh place, Lucknow displayed flashes of brilliance, a testament to a successful mega-auction held in November. The explosive half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, who collectively hit 13 sixes, propelled LSG to a total of 209/8, despite Pant, the most expensive player in IPL history, being dismissed for a six-ball duck.
On the bowling front, LSG maintained control, limiting the Capitals to 168/7 in 16 overs. However, the relatively unknown Ashutosh had different intentions. The 24-year-old, mentored by Shikhar Dhawan, turned the tide in favor of DC with an unbeaten 66 off just 31 balls, which included five fours and five sixes. Ashutosh's remarkable display of clean hitting was one of the finest seen in recent times, enabling DC to achieve their highest successful chase in IPL history.
LSG has little time to recover from this narrow loss, as they are set to face the formidable Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday, who recently showcased their batting prowess against the Rajasthan Royals, amassing 286/6 on Sunday.
