Australia's Sam Konstas really made a name for himself with the home crowd during the recent Test matches in Melbourne and Sydney against India, but he didn't quite win over the Indian players. It all kicked off with a moment involving Virat Kohli during the Boxing Day match. After the game, he approached his idol and was taken aback by Kohli's reaction.

In his debut at the MCG, Konstas had an incredible start, shaking up the Indian team right from the get-go. Facing off against Jasprit Bumrah, one of the top bowlers in the world who had been crucial for India in the series, the young player showed no fear. He scored 34 runs off 60 balls against Bumrah, including two impressive ramp shots for boundaries, and even got the Melbourne crowd hyped up.

To add some drama, Konstas ended up in a bit of a verbal spat with Kohli after the former Indian captain intentionally bumped into him while he was heading to the other end of the crease at the end of the 10th over.

'I mentioned to Kohli that he's someone I really look up to'

In a recent chat with CODE Sports, the 19-year-old shared that after the match in Melbourne, he had a moment with Kohli where he expressed his admiration for the cricket star.

"I had a quick talk after the game, telling him how much I look up to him. It’s such a big deal to play against someone like him," Konstas mentioned.

"When I faced him, I thought, 'Wow, I’m up against Virat Kohli.' He just has this incredible aura, especially with all the Indian fans cheering for him. It felt pretty unreal," he added.

Konstas also noted that Virat is really approachable and wished him well for the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka, which kicks off later this month.

"He was super down to earth. A really nice guy, just wishing me luck and hoping I do well if I get selected for the Sri Lanka tour," he said.

"My whole family is a big fan of Virat. I’ve looked up to him since I was a kid; he’s truly a legend in cricket," he wrapped up.
