Ronaldo Opens Up on 1000-Goal Milestone, Admits Career Nearing End

India, April 8 -- Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed that he is not fixated on reaching the milestone of 1,000 goals in professional football, especially as he approaches the latter stages of his career. The Portuguese icon has maintained impressive goal-scoring performances for both his club and country, yet he does not feel pressured to achieve this unique landmark, which no player has reached in their career. Recently, he netted two goals, bringing his total to 939. The five-time Ballon d'Or recipient remarked that if he does not reach 1,000 goals, it will not significantly impact him.

"Let’s appreciate the moment. I’m not obsessively pursuing 1,000 goals," Ronaldo stated.

"If it happens, that’s great. If it doesn’t, that’s fine too!" he added.

The Al Nassr forward emphasized that he is focused on the present, preferring not to impose additional pressure on himself to reach a milestone at this point in his career.

"The present moment is what matters most—not what lies ahead. Let’s enjoy the now," he urged.

At 41 years old, he acknowledged that he is in the final years of his career and intends to take things one step at a time.

"While records and specific goal counts, like 70 or 69, are commendable, I want to savor these last years. I aim to continue progressing gradually, championship by championship," he explained.

Recently, Ronaldo scored twice in the second half, including a penalty, leading Al-Nassr to a 3-1 victory over Al-Hilal in their pursuit of the Saudi Pro League title on Friday.

Al-Nassr currently holds third place with 54 points, trailing second-placed Al-Hilal by three points and leaders Al-Ittihad by seven, who are set to face Al-Ahli on Saturday.

"The collective effort of the team was vital for this victory. While my scoring is important, winning is what truly matters," Ronaldo told SSC.
