Rohit Sharma has once again found himself at the center of controversy, a situation that fans had anticipated, following the viral spread of a video shared on the Mumbai Indians' social media account. This incident has drawn parallels to a similar occurrence from the previous year during the IPL. The video was released just before the Mumbai Indians' match against the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025, held at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
The Mumbai Indians posted a brief six-second clip accompanied by the caption: "Q: For how long are you going to watch this reel? A: Haaanjiiii."
While the video showcased the camaraderie between Rohit and LSG captain Rishabh Pant, who was seen approaching and embracing the 37-year-old, fans expressed greater concern over the initial moments of the clip, which featured a conversation between Rohit and Zaheer Khan, the current mentor of the Lucknow team and a former coach of MI.
In those fleeting seconds, Rohit was heard stating, “Jo jab Karna tha maine kiya barabar se, ab mereko kuch karne ki zarurat nahi hai (Whatever had to be done, I did it properly, now I don't need to do anything).”
This revelation has led fans to worry that another controversy may be on the horizon for the Indian captain, as he appears to have "got exposed again."
What happened in IPL 2024?
Last year, Rohit faced scrutiny after a video surfaced showing him in conversation with Abhishek Nayar, the then assistant coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), prior to their match at Eden Gardens. In the video, Rohit was allegedly discussing the dynamics within the MI camp, suggesting that changes would occur gradually. KKR subsequently removed the video from their social media platforms.
KKR CEO Venky Mysore later addressed the viral conversation, stating to RevSportz, "I wasn't even aware of it. I believe it's merely a tempest in a teapot. They have been good friends for a long time, and someone has likely stirred up trouble. I spoke to both of them; they were discussing something entirely different. Some individuals simply have too much free time."
