India captain Rohit Sharma put aside his first-innings disappointment with a fast-paced start in the second innings of the Ranji Trophy Group A match between Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir at BKC, Mumbai. It was Rohit's first Ranji match in almost a decade, and after being dismissed for just 3 off 19 balls on day 1, he came out with a refreshed approach on day 2.
He began his innings with confidence, launching a spectacular six straight over the bowler’s head. His 28 runs, however, came with a mix of brilliant shots and lucky escapes. Early on, he survived a dropped chance when Nazir failed to catch a return ball off his follow-through in the fourth over. Rohit responded by smashing a pull shot for another six over square leg.

Just as it seemed he was finding his rhythm, Rohit displayed his class once again with a lofted six straight down the ground off Yudhvir’s bowling—his third of the innings. But just when a big knock seemed on the cards, disaster struck. Rohit mistimed an attempt at another lofted shot, failing to pick Yudhvir’s subtle change in pace. The ball took an inside edge and lobbed to mid-wicket, where Abid Mushtaq took a sharp catch. Rohit walked back to the pavilion for 28 off 35 balls, his head hung low as he knew he had missed a valuable opportunity.
