Rohit Sharma has garnered widespread acclaim following his leadership of India to victory in the Champions Trophy 2025, held on Sunday in Dubai. His team’s triumph over Australia in the semifinals marked him as the first and only captain to guide a team to all ICC tournament finals.

The Mumbai Indians opener has successfully led India to the finals of the 2023 World Test Championship, the 2023 ODI World Cup, the 2024 T20 World Cup, and most recently, the 2025 Champions Trophy. In addition to the 2025 Champions Trophy final, he also steered India to success in the T20 World Cup the previous year.

Kuldeep Yadav dissects Rohit Sharma's captaincy

Kuldeep Yadav, in an interview with Sky Sports Cricket, analyzed Rohit Sharma's captaincy and praised his adept management of the four spinners included in the squad. Alongside Kuldeep, the other spinners were Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel, all of whom participated in the final match.

"It is quite challenging to manage four spinners, and the manner in which he handled the situation was remarkable," Kuldeep remarked.

"When all four spinners are on the field, it becomes quite difficult to rotate them effectively. There was considerable planning involved; we played our last match in Dubai on March 4, which allowed us a break of four to five days. During that time, we discussed our strategy for the upcoming game.

"Our strategy for Varun and me was to bowl to the new batsman. We aimed to complete the overs of Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel before Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell came to bat," he elaborated.

In the final, both Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep took two wickets each, while Jadeja claimed one dismissal and also scored the match-winning boundary.

Kuldeep further shared insights into the specific role assigned to him by Rohit throughout the tournament. "In the last match, when Head was batting, Rohit believed I was the better option to bowl to him and wanted me to take his wicket. He was okay with the possibility of Head hitting a few sixes. Varun took the first wicket of Will Young, and I bowled in the 11th over. Rachin was performing exceptionally well. It was all part of the planning, to be honest," he stated.
