Rohit Sharma Under Fire: Back-to-Back Batting Collapses Spark Criticism

Former wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel has suggested that Indian batsmen should go back to traditional batting techniques for the last two Tests against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The team has struggled in the previous two Tests in Adelaide and Brisbane, with key players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant not stepping up. KL Rahul has been the standout performer for India lately, showing solid technique at the crease. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kohli, who both scored centuries in the second innings at Perth, have not made much of an impact in the last two matches, leaving the series tied at 1-1.

The Indian batting lineup has faced criticism since the home series against New Zealand, where they suffered a disappointing 0-3 defeat. Even on home soil, they struggled on turning pitches, and now in Australia, they seem uneasy against the pace-friendly conditions.

Patel pointed out that batting has become a weak spot lately, with the team facing collapses both at home and abroad.

"There's no denying that we've had some rough patches, particularly in home series. We've experienced breakdowns on turning pitches against New Zealand, and the same issues popped up during our tour in Australia," Patel told Cricbuzz.

Success Anywhere: The Importance of Batting Discipline

Patel emphasized that Indian batters can thrive in any conditions, but they need to honor the classic approach of Test cricket and maintain discipline at the crease.

"I don't think this issue stems from being overly aggressive. If we stick to the traditional Test cricket style and bat with discipline, these are the same players who have done well in the past. Indian batters just need to focus more because they have the talent. With the right discipline, they can achieve success anywhere," he mentioned.
