Team India captain Rohit Sharma took to Instagram to share a story dedicated to recently dismissed batting coach Abhishek Nayar, acknowledging his role in Rohit's resurgence after a stellar performance for the Mumbai Indians on Sunday night. After a shaky start to the IPL season, Rohit found his rhythm against the Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium, scoring an impressive 76 runs off 45 balls, featuring 4 fours and 6 sixes.

The day after his standout innings, Rohit posted a celebratory photo from the game on his Instagram story, expressing gratitude to Nayar in the caption.

Rohit and Nayar shared a strong bond, with reports indicating that Rohit was a significant supporter of Nayar, even advocating for his hiring by the BCCI for the Indian coaching staff. However, following a disappointing batting performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the BCCI opted to let Nayar go.

In addition to Nayar, fielding coach T Dilip and conditioning coach Soham Desai were also dismissed after a performance review, prompted by India's poor showing in Test cricket.

Despite having the support of Rohit and other prominent players like KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who often commended Nayar's guidance during challenging times, his position became precarious when the BCCI appointed Sitanshu Kotak as the batting coach for the England white-ball series earlier this year.

Fans on social media expressed their frustration, criticizing the BCCI for making Nayar a scapegoat for the team's recent Test struggles.

The BCCI hasn't made any official announcement about Nayar's firing, but his rejoining the KKR coaching team pretty much confirms it.

KL Rahul also gives a shoutout to Abhishek Nayar for helping him bounce back in white-ball cricket

Recently, KL Rahul, the wicketkeeper-batter for Delhi Capitals, expressed his appreciation for Abhishek Nayar, highlighting how he has helped him rediscover the joy of playing white-ball cricket.

"Shout out to Abhishek Nayar! Ever since he joined the Indian team, I've been working closely with him," Rahul mentioned after delivering a match-winning performance for Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam. "We've spent countless hours discussing my white-ball game and ways to improve. Our time together in Bombay has really helped me find the fun in playing white-ball cricket again."
