Just when the Mumbai Indians required a hero to rejuvenate their IPL 2025 journey, their previous captain emerged in impressive fashion. Rohit Sharma’s timely resurgence has rekindled his own season and assisted Mumbai Indians in advancing back into the upper half of the rankings. On Wednesday night in Hyderabad, Rohit delivered yet another notable performance – 70 off 46 balls – as MI sailed to a seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad for their fourth consecutive win.
The seasoned opener appeared comfortable from the very first ball, taking on SRH’s bowlers with effortless timing. His innings, which included eight boundaries and three sixes, comfortably handled the 144-run target and garnered him a special post-match accolade in MI's dressing room.
In a video released by the franchise on social media, Suryakumar Yadav presented Rohit with the Dressing Room Batting Award.
“Back-to-back 50s. Dressing Room Batting Award. Rohit Sharma struck them all around the field, and we truly enjoyed it,” the franchise shared.
“Let’s maintain the consistent efforts we’ve been making. I mentioned in the huddle before the game that we need to perform consistently, and today was another excellent instance of that. Let’s just continue with that,” Rohit remarked while addressing the players in the dressing room.

Rohit’s recent performances are a significant departure from his early-season difficulties. After totaling only 82 runs in his first six matches at a modest average of 13. 7, concerns were beginning to rise. However, in the last two games, the 37-year-old has quieted critics with scores of 76* against CSK and now 70 against SRH – both remarkable innings that were completed in fewer than 50 balls.
By doing so, Rohit also registered his name in MI’s record books by surpassing Kieron Pollard as the player with the highest number of sixes for the franchise.
This is the first occasion since 2016 that Rohit has achieved consecutive IPL half-centuries. At that time, he hit fifties against Kolkata Knight Riders and the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants. His current season total is 228 runs from eight matches, with an average of 32. 57 and a strike rate of 154. 05.
With the victory over SRH, Mumbai Indians are presently sitting third in the points table with 10 points from nine matches. Four teams – MI, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants – share the same point total, but Hardik Pandya's side leads the trio on a higher Net Run Rate.
