Indian captain Rohit Sharma was not happy with KL Rahul and Axar Patel after their decision to skip a review against Joe Root ended up costing the team in Cuttack. In the 25th over of England's innings, Axar had Root in front of the wickets, but umpire Chris Brown turned down the appeal.

Root had confidently moved his front foot well outside off stump, preparing for a sweep shot, but he completely missed the ball. The key issue was the impact, which was just outside off stump, making it a tough call; this might be why Rahul and Axar decided against the review.

However, just before Ravindra Jadeja's next over, the replays on the big screen revealed that the ball would have clipped the off-stump, meaning India missed a golden opportunity. Rohit Sharma looked visibly frustrated with his players, and it’s hard to blame him; earlier in the innings, India had already wasted a review against Root.

On the very first ball of his innings against Varun Chakaravarthy, Root had an appeal turned down, but India opted for a review, which showed the ball had missed the leg-stump.

Shastri pointed out that Rohit was visibly upset with Rahul and Axar, noting that the Indian captain was “shaking his head” over the missed opportunity.

Buttler won the toss again earlier today and chose to bat at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. England kicked off their innings with the same energy as in the first ODI in Nagpur, with Ben Duckett smashing his way to a half-century.

But then, Chakaravarthy stepped in and ended the partnership by taking out Phil Salt for 26, and Duckett (65) followed him back to the dugout shortly after.

Harry Brook, who had been under fire for struggling against spin bowlers, was dismissed by Harshit Rana for 31.

India is currently ahead in the three-match series, leading 1-0.
