1 month ago | 5 Views
Team India captain Rohit Sharma brought immense joy to a young fan during a visit to a restaurant. The young admirer was overjoyed after having the opportunity to meet his idol. Rohit was dining with Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and coaching staff members Abhishek Nayar and T Dilip when the young fan approached him to engage in conversation and request an autograph on his T-shirt.
In a display of kindness, the Indian captain patted the boy on the back and willingly signed the T-shirt, making the young fan's day. Pant, seated next to Rohit, inquired, "What do you do?" The boy responded that he plays cricket and considers himself an all-rounder, prompting him to seek an autograph from the Indian wicketkeeper as well.
After receiving autographs from both Rohit and Pant, the young fan then approached Jaiswal, who also graciously signed his T-shirt.
Rohit Sharma regains mojo ahead of Champions Trophy
Rohit regained his form at a crucial moment ahead of the Champions Trophy, scoring an impressive 119 runs off 90 balls, which included 12 fours and seven sixes, leading India to a four-wicket victory over England in the second ODI. This innings was essential for Rohit, allowing him to alleviate the pressure he faced following a disappointing red-ball season.
His performance in Cuttack was particularly significant, as it marked his first ODI century since October 2023. Throughout the intervening period, he demonstrated his consistency by accumulating five fifties in 13 matches, underscoring his dependability at the top of the order. This century is noteworthy not only for being his first in ODIs in several months but also for ending a drought in international cricket, with his previous century in any format occurring in March 2024 during a Test match against England in Dharamsala.
Despite the achievement, Rohit maintained that it was merely another day at work for him, emphasizing that his focus remains on fulfilling his responsibilities in each match.
"In my mind, it was just about doing things that I do, trying to bat the way I do. I've been here long enough... one or two knocks are not going to change my mind and the way I bat. But (it was) just another day in the office," Rohit stated in a video released by BCCI.
