India's captain Rohit Sharma found himself in hot water with fans on social media after the team decided to drop Yashasvi Jaiswal for the second ODI against England in Cuttack. Jaiswal, who was selected as a backup opener for the Champions Trophy, made his debut in the series opener on Thursday in Nagpur.

For the match at Barabati Stadium, India made two changes. Varun Chakravarthy received his debut cap, becoming the second-oldest Indian to achieve this in ODIs, while Jaiswal was left out to make room for the returning Virat Kohli.

After the toss announcement, Rohit faced backlash online, with fans accusing him of making Jaiswal a "scapegoat." They also reminded him of his own struggles, especially after a tough tour in Australia where he managed only 31 runs in five innings, followed by a disappointing return to the Ranji Trophy last month. Rohit's rough patch continued in the ODI series opener, where he only scored two runs.

England won the toss and chose to bat

Earlier in the match, England's captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to bat first against India in the second ODI. The team made three changes, bringing in Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson, and Jamie Overton to replace Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, and Jofra Archer.

India is currently leading the three-match series 1-0 after their four-wicket victory over England in the first ODI held in Nagpur.

India also made a couple of changes, with Kohli returning to the lineup after missing the first match due to a swollen knee, while Kuldeep Yadav was given a rest.
