India take 1-0 lead

India can take solace in the fact that Rohit's modest performance did not affect their outcome, as they triumphed over England by 4 wickets, securing a 1-0 lead in the series. After winning the toss, Jos Buttler chose to bat first; however, despite a promising start from Ben Duckett and Phil Salt, England was dismissed for 247 runs. Ravindra Jadeja and debutant Harshit Rana each claimed three wickets. India's response was bolstered by strong half-centuries from Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, and Axar Patel.
