India's captain, Rohit Sharma, provided an explanation for the decision to prohibit fans from attending the team's training sessions for the remainder of their tour in Australia, specifically for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. However, he refrained from discussing the unfortunate incident involving the crowd that the Indian team experienced in Adelaide.

In a media interaction following the 10-wicket defeat in the pink ball Test, which resulted in Australia equalizing the series at 1-1, Rohit emphasized the importance of keeping practice sessions confidential due to the strategic discussions that occur. Consequently, the team opted to eliminate any public interference.

"The net sessions are highly confidential, and this was the first occasion I witnessed such a large crowd during practice. During training, numerous discussions take place, and these discussions are meant to remain private. We prefer that no one overhears these conversations, as they involve significant planning," Rohit stated.

"There is extensive dialogue that occurs, and the spectators are situated very close to the practice area. There are five days of Test cricket; they are welcome to watch us during those matches," he further remarked.

Indian team players experienced overwhelming attention from fans during a training session leading up to the second Test in Australia, with some fans making inappropriate remarks.

"It was utter pandemonium. While only about 70 individuals attended the Australian training session, approximately 3,000 fans showed up for India's practice. The turnout was completely unexpected," a senior BCCI official disclosed to PTI on the condition of anonymity.

"There was a scheduled fans' day in Sydney prior to the fifth Test, which has now been cancelled due to the players feeling unsettled by the rude and thoughtless comments made during this session," he continued.

The news agency's report further indicated that fans persistently urged Indian captain Rishabh Pant to hit sixes during the training, while also mocking their fitness levels.

"Virat (Kohli) and Shubman Gill were at risk of being overwhelmed by the crowd. Some fans were broadcasting live on Facebook and speaking loudly just as the batsman prepared to take his stance," he noted.

"One supporter repeatedly requested a player to greet him in Gujarati. Additionally, another cricketer faced body-shaming remarks."
