Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa praised Rajat Patidar's captaincy, expressing confidence that Royal Challengers Bengaluru could finally break their trophy drought. RCB is currently leading the points table with two wins from two matches. Patidar, who was retained by RCB, is taking on the captaincy role for the first time in this lucrative league. The stylish batsman appeared calm and collected while guiding his team against two former champions, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

RCB showcased a well-rounded performance on the field, with Patidar demonstrating promising leadership skills.

Uthappa was particularly impressed with Patidar's approach and even dropped an F-bomb in his enthusiasm.

“I have a feeling about RCB this year. I’ll tell you why, because of Rajat Patidar! His leadership in the last couple of games has been f*****g unbelievable! It has been so good!” Uthappa shared on The KimAppa show with cricket analyst Jarrod Kimber.

Having played for RCB himself, Uthappa noted that Patidar's proactive nature and composure were key highlights of his captaincy.

“What I love about Patidar is his proactiveness and the calmness with which he approaches it. It’s impressive to see someone leading a team for the first time in the IPL maintain such composure. He’s not just reacting; he’s trusting the process,” he added.

RCB is more likely to make it past the playoffs

The 2014 Orange Cap winner highlighted Patidar's smart decision to bring Suyash Sharma into the bowling lineup against Andre Russell, even though the young leg-spinner had struggled earlier in the match. Suyash proved his captain right by taking out Russell, which was a crucial moment for KKR.

“He brought Suyash Sharma back to bowl when Andre Russell came in, despite Suyash having already conceded 40 runs in three overs. He told Suyash, ‘I picked you to get this guy out. Now go do it for me!’ To show that kind of trust in your first game as captain, especially when your bowler has been hit for 40 runs, really shows his character. For me, that’s what defines Patidar's character,” he said.

On another note, Patidar has made 85 runs in two matches, including a half-century against CSK. He’s been playing aggressively while holding the RCB batting order together, something Uthappa also recognized.

“Plus, the way he’s batting is impressive. He’s not letting the captaincy pressure get to him. He’s stepping up as a batter, taking on the bowlers aggressively. He’s doing it with such style and effectiveness, which is why I believe RCB has a better shot at making it past the playoffs this season,” he added.
