Riyan Parag Upset After Dismissal, Disputes DRS Call with Umpire; Siraj Steps In to Soothe Tensions

Riyan Parag voiced his dissatisfaction with the third umpire's ruling during the IPL 2025 match against the Gujarat Titans on Wednesday. The Rajasthan Royals appeared to be in good form until he was dismissed after being caught behind. Parag seemed unimpressed with the call and engaged in a discussion with the umpire as he exited the field.
This incident occurred in the first over following the powerplay, when the Gujarat Titans introduced Kulwant Khejroliya to disrupt the promising partnership between Sanju Samson and Parag. The left-arm pacer succeeded on his fourth delivery, with the umpire declaring Parag out caught behind. However, Parag immediately opted for the DRS, confident that he had not edged the ball and suggesting that it had instead struck the ground, which produced a loud noise. The replay indicated a spike as the ball passed the bat, yet the third umpire upheld the original decision, leaving Parag in disbelief, prompting him to argue with the on-field umpire.
Gujarat Titans senior pacer Mohammed Siraj talked to Parag and patted his back when he returned to the pavilion.
Parag did make a small impact with his stay in the middle and enthralled the fans with three marvellous sixes; however, the moment shifted in the hosts' favour after his dismissal.
Rajasthan Royals wobble in tall
Pursuing a target of 218 runs, Rajasthan Royals lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Nitish Rana (1) during the powerplay. However, Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag managed to stabilize the innings with a partnership of 48 runs. Despite this, the team continued to lose wickets at consistent intervals. Samson's dismissal for 41 proved to be a significant blow for the Royals, as he had contributed four fours and two sixes before being out by Prasidh Krishna.
Shimron Hetmyer attempted a late resurgence with a score of 52, but it ultimately fell short, leading to Rajasthan Royals being bowled out for 159 runs. Prasidh Krishna was the standout bowler for the Titans, claiming three wickets.
Earlier in the match, Sai Sudharsan played a dynamic innings of 82 runs, enabling Gujarat Titans to set a total of 217 for 6, which proved too challenging for the Royals to chase.
Sudharsan's innings spanned 53 balls and included eight fours and three sixes, while Shahrukh Khan and Jos Buttler each contributed 36 runs after Gujarat Titans were asked to bat. For Rajasthan Royals, Maheesh Theekshana and Tushar Deshpande each took two wickets, while Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma secured one wicket apiece.
