Riyan Parag Breaks Silence on Ananya Panday & Sara Ali Khan YouTube Searches: 'No One Would Understand Why...'
1 month ago | 5 Views
Indian cricketer Riyan Parag addressed the controversy surrounding his viral YouTube search history during a live stream, which captured significant attention last year. The incident arose when fans captured and disseminated screenshots of Parag's explicit searches related to Bollywood actresses Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan, leading to widespread criticism and mockery from the public.
In an interview with City1016 Radio, Parag explained that he had opened YouTube to play music, inadvertently exposing his search history. He noted that he only became aware of the situation after the stream concluded, and he chose to remain silent until now, asserting that the matter had been exaggerated.
"I had just completed the IPL season, and while in Chennai, I joined a Discord call with my streaming team. The incident occurred before the IPL, but it gained traction afterwards. One of my Discord team members attempted to set me up before the IPL, but that was quickly resolved. Following the IPL, the hype intensified, and I had a successful season. When I opened my stream, I realized I didn't have Spotify or Apple Music available, as everything had been deleted," Parag stated.
"I turned to YouTube to find music and searched. I was unaware of the implications at the time, but once the stream ended, I thought, 'Oh no! This happened.' It was all blown out of proportion. I didn't believe it warranted a public clarification, as I felt no one would truly understand," he added.
Riyan Parag recovers from injury
The Rajasthan Royals player, following an outstanding IPL season in 2024, made a significant entry into the Indian T20I team. He debuted during the tour of Zimbabwe, which took place immediately after the T20 World Cup, and has since participated in nine matches in this format. Additionally, he made his ODI debut in the series against Sri Lanka last August.
Unfortunately, Parag was unable to join the tour of South Africa last year and was not selected for the recent home T20I series against England due to an injury. Nevertheless, he made a successful return to competitive cricket in Assam's Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra last month, where he achieved a half-century and took two wickets.
