Rishabh Pant’s Six-Ball Duck Sparks Hilarious Meme Fest
3 days ago | 5 Views
Rishabh Pant's debut for the Lucknow Super Giants was far from memorable, as he recorded a six-ball duck against his previous team, the Delhi Capitals, in Visakhapatnam. The wicketkeeper-batter, who joined LSG for a staggering INR 27 crore, was unable to score and was dismissed by his former teammate, Kuldeep Yadav.
Pant entered the match at number four following the dismissal of Mitchell Marsh but struggled to find his rhythm on a pitch that favored batting. The left-handed player was unable to get off the mark and ultimately fell to a reckless shot.
In the 14th over, after facing three consecutive dot balls, the pressure mounted on him. Unable to maintain his composure, he attempted to hit the fourth ball over long-off but failed to clear the boundary, resulting in a catch by Faf du Plessis.
The 27-year-old walked back to the pavilion visibly disappointed, with his head down.
This match marked Pant's first appearance in the IPL wearing a jersey other than that of Delhi Capitals, where he had accumulated 3,284 runs over eight seasons. Unfortunately, his start with LSG did not go as he had hoped.
When he joined Nicholas Pooran at the crease, LSG was in a strong position, but his dismissal allowed DC to regain momentum. Nevertheless, he did witness Pooran hitting four sixes in an over bowled by Tristan Stubbs from the other end.
Pant faced criticism online for his lackluster performance in his initial outing with LSG.
“I have played for DC all my life”: Rishabh Pant
Prior to the match, during the toss, LSG captain Pant expressed his feelings about facing his former team, describing it as an emotional experience.
“I have played for DC all my life, so there are a lot of emotions involved. Our preparations have been good, and everyone is in the right shape and mindset,” Pant stated at the toss.
Meanwhile, DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to field first at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vizag.
KL Rahul was unable to participate in the inaugural match for his new team, Delhi Capitals, as he welcomed a baby girl and traveled to Mumbai to support his wife, Athiya Shetty.
