Speculation regarding a rift between Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant and franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka has circulated following their animated discussions observed on two occasions during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. This led to concerns among fans reminiscent of the KL Rahul situation. However, both Pant and Goenka dispelled these rumors when they were seen together attending the semifinal match of the 2024/25 Indian Super League (ISL) featuring Mohun Bagan Super Giant against Jamshedpur FC.

It is worth mentioning that Goenka serves as the chairperson of the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, which owns Mohun Bagan SG. He was accompanied by LSG head coach Justin Langer, Vijay Dahiya, and several other team members, all of whom were cheering for the Mariners as the Kolkata club made a remarkable comeback from a 2-1 deficit to secure their spot in the final.

Thanks to Lalengmawia 'Apuia' Ralte's remarkable late goal, Mohun Bagan has secured a place in their third consecutive ISL final. Earlier in the match, Jason Cummings converted a penalty at the beginning of the second half, bringing the aggregate score level.

Mohun Bagan is now poised to face Bengaluru FC in the championship match on Saturday at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, marking a rematch of the 2022-23 ISL Cup final. The team aims to become only the second ISL club, following Mumbai City FC, to achieve a double.

LSG next face KKR

Lucknow, currently positioned in the center of the IPL points table, will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday at Eden Gardens. They enter this match following a victory over the Mumbai Indians at their home ground. So far this season, they have achieved two wins and suffered two losses in four matches, mirroring KKR's record, who also secured a win in their last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home. However, Lucknow has the advantage in their head-to-head matchups, having triumphed in three out of five meetings with Kolkata.
