Lucknow Super Giants' captain Rishabh Pant appeared at ease as his former team, Delhi Capitals, struggled to secure a win in their IPL 2025 match on Monday in Vizag. The situation worsened for Delhi when they lost their eighth wicket at the beginning of the 18th over, leaving them needing 39 runs from just 17 balls. In this relaxed atmosphere, Pant engaged in some playful banter with his India teammate Kuldeep Yadav as he came to the crease, unaware of the unfolding events.
The incident occurred during the second ball of the 18th over when Ravi Bishnoi delivered a flat ball on off. Kuldeep attempted to cut it from the back foot but ended up deflecting it in front of the wicketkeeper. Pant swiftly gathered the ball while Kuldeep remained in his stance. The LSG captain then nudged Kuldeep out of the crease, causing him to fall, before removing the bails. Ultimately, it was Delhi Capitals who emerged victorious in the end.

The former Punjab Kings batsman, who made his debut for Delhi as an impact substitute, was on strike during the fourth ball of the 18th over. He took full advantage of the opportunity against Bishnoi, hitting two sixes and a boundary in the remaining deliveries.
Delhi lost another wicket in the second-to-last over, yet Ashutosh remained composed, facing Prince Yadav and scoring a four and a six, which brought the target down to six runs needed in the final over. He ultimately secured the victory with a six off Shahbaz Ahmed on the third ball of the last over.
Following the match, Ashutosh attributed his success to his strong self-belief, which he considered crucial in achieving the win during their season opener.
"I learned from last year, as there were several matches where I couldn't finish the game. Therefore, I have been concentrating on closing out games, even in domestic cricket. I have a great deal of confidence in myself that if I can play until the last over and the last ball, anything is possible," he remarked after receiving the Player of the Match award.
