Just a few months into his professional cricket career, Digvesh Rathi has already experienced a moment that many aspire to achieve throughout their lives. Following a standout performance that led to a victory against the Mumbai Indians, where he was awarded the Player of the Match, the young spinner for the Lucknow Super Giants disclosed that his motivation to pursue cricket came from none other than Sunil Narine, the Trinidadian legend he admired during his formative years.
What transpired next seemed like a scene from a storybook. As LSG prepared to compete against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their forthcoming IPL 2025 match, captain Rishabh Pant took steps to make his young teammate's dream a reality. In a touching act, Pant facilitated a special meeting between Digvesh and Narine, creating an emotional moment as the emerging Indian talent met the very idol who inspired his cricketing aspirations.
The Super Giants documented and shared this heartfelt encounter on their official social media channels.

In his inaugural season in the IPL, Rathi has made a remarkable impact with his consistent performances. Within just four matches, the promising spinner has claimed six wickets, establishing himself as a key player in the LSG team.
His most notable performance occurred against the Mumbai Indians, where he achieved two crucial wickets while maintaining tight control over the opposing batters, finishing with an impressive bowling figure of 2/21 from his full allocation. This exceptional display was instrumental in leading his team to a narrow 12-run victory.
Rathi's journey
Rathi's journey from being an unrecognized talent within Delhi's domestic cricket scene to becoming a pivotal spinner for LSG has been remarkable. His potential was first identified by former Indian cricketer and talent scout Vijay Dahiya during a local tournament in Delhi, where Rathi showcased his classical leg-breaks and high-arm bowling style.
Dahiya was so impressed that he confidently informed Ayush Badoni, who was already part of LSG, that Rathi would soon make his IPL debut.
However, Rathi faced several challenges along the way. After being selected but not utilized in Delhi's U-23 squad during the 2018/19 season, he faded from the spotlight until the 2022/23 season, when he made a comeback in Delhi's U-25 team. His performances in the Delhi Premier League (DPL), particularly under Dahiya's guidance, marked a significant turning point in his career.
Despite delivering strong performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he was curiously underutilized by the domestic team. Off the field, Rathi has a close connection with KKR's Suyash Sharma, as both hail from North East Delhi and have trained together on local pitches. Prior to this IPL season, Dahiya took a personal interest in Rathi's training at the nets of St Stephen’s College.
