This was the first time in nine years of his T20 career that Pant batted so low, with Abdul Samad, David Miller, and Ayush Badoni coming in before him.

He only got to the crease with two balls left in the innings and was out on the last ball without scoring. As experts questioned the reasoning behind this decision that led to Lucknow's loss, a clip of Pant's animated talk with franchise mentor Zaheer went viral on social media. On Star Sports, Rayudu slammed Pant for his behavior, stating that the footage doesn't reflect well on the franchise.

Pant really needs to step up and take responsibility for his decisions. It's important for him to handle things on his own. When you're part of a strong team, you want to keep things private and not air any dirty laundry in public. Rayudu emphasized that as captain, Pant should take charge of the team's choices at LSG. He needs to bat higher in the order and stop making excuses. It's clear he's feeling the pressure, especially since this has been his toughest IPL season with only 106 runs in nine innings. Lucknow's next match is against Mumbai Indians on April 27 at Wankhede.
