The Indian cricket team conducted their second training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Monday, in preparation for their opening match in the Champions Trophy against Bangladesh. Rishabh Pant, who had sustained a minor injury during the first training session on Sunday, was deemed fit for the ICC tournament; however, he exhibited signs of discomfort on Monday, opting to forgo his wicketkeeping drills.

During the previous day's practice, Hardik Pandya was refining his big-hitting technique against spinners in the nets when one of his powerful shots inadvertently struck Pant on the knee. Team physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain promptly attended to him, while Pandya also checked on Pant's condition. Fortunately, the injury was not serious, and Pant was able to don his pads after the initial group of batters completed their training.

On Monday, however, reports from PTI indicated that Pant appeared to be struggling during India's second net session in Dubai, displaying a slight limp. He chose to skip both wicketkeeping and fielding exercises and seemed out of form when it was his turn to bat, missing and edging several deliveries.

KL Rahul gears up for finisher's role

Head coach Gautam Gambhir has expressed his support for the Karnataka player as India's primary wicketkeeper for the Champions Trophy; however, there remains uncertainty regarding his batting position, whether it will be No. 5 or 6 in the batting order. In light of this, Rahul has taken the initiative to refine his finishing abilities, concentrating on powerful hitting during India's second training session in Dubai. While he is typically recognized for his technical prowess, Rahul demonstrated a shift in approach by focusing on aggressive batting, effortlessly clearing the boundary and practicing sixes off nearly every delivery.

As he is expected to bat at either No. 5 or 6, Rahul's contribution will be crucial in the final overs, where he may be called upon to accelerate the scoring rate. Therefore, his emphasis on range-hitting is vital for India's success.

Shreyas Iyer has also been enhancing his big-hitting capabilities, while Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Rohit Sharma showcased their exceptional form with a variety of graceful strokes.
