Rinku Singh and Rohit Sharma's Bat Mission Takes a Turn as Hardik Pandya Steps In

After the Indian Premier League match on Monday, Kolkata Knight Riders' batsman Rinku Singh visited the Mumbai Indians' dressing room to reconnect with his Team India colleagues. While he was conversing with India captain Rohit Sharma, who was inspecting his bats from the kit bag, he was playfully teased by Tilak Varma.

The Mumbai Indians shared a video capturing the lighthearted exchange between Rinku and the players from the home team on their social media platforms.

In the video, Tilak humorously remarked that Rinku had requested a bat from Rohit, even though he already had a good one. This was not the first instance of Rinku seeking a bat from a senior player; last season, a viral video showed him asking RCB star Virat Kohli for his bat.

Additionally, while Rinku was with Rohit, MI captain Hardik Pandya approached him and inquired if he had come for a bat. Rinku responded playfully, stating, “Honestly, I just came here to meet him (Rohit).”

It appears that it was another young talent from KKR, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who ultimately received Rohit's bat, as he was seen posing with a bat featuring a CEAT sticker.

During the significant match at Wankhede Stadium, debutant Ashwani Kumar excelled with a remarkable four-wicket haul, leading the Mumbai Indians to their first victory of the IPL season on Monday, decisively defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets.

Kumar's impressive figures of 4-24, along with a collectively disciplined bowling effort, limited the defending champions Kolkata to a modest score of 116. In response, Ryan Rickelton achieved his first IPL fifty, allowing Mumbai to successfully chase down the target with over seven overs remaining.

Rohit Sharma's form a big concern for MI

Despite the win, Rohit's form became a big concern for Mumbai Indians as the swashbuckling opener has failed to make a mark so far. After a duck in the first, he managed to score just 8 and 13 in the next two which made things worse for him. His numbers in the last few IPL seasons have not been up to his standards. He last had a 450-run-plus season way back in IPL 2016. He scored 417 runs last season at an average of 32.08 and managed to register just two 50-plus scores.
