Shah Rukh Khan was present, along with Shreyas Ghoshal, Disha Patani, and Karan Aujla, creating a dazzling spectacle to inaugurate IPL 2025 at the renowned Eden Gardens in Kolkata. However, the most captivating moments were shared among Shah Rukh, Rinku Singh, and Virat Kohli. Following the musical performance, Bollywood icon and KKR principal owner Shah Rukh invited Royal Challengers Bengaluru legend Virat Kohli and KKR's emerging talent Rinku Singh to the stage.

Initially, Shah Rukh introduced Kohli with great eloquence, encouraging the audience to chant 'Kohli Kohli' before welcoming Rinku to join them. As Rinku approached the stage, he exchanged a handshake with Shah Rukh Khan but inadvertently walked past Kohli, who was attempting to greet him. Footage of this incident quickly went viral during the KKR vs RCB match.

Although Rinku may have overlooked greeting Kohli, a player he greatly admires, the incident sparked extensive discussion across social media.

In his distinctive attire, Shah Rukh Khan commenced the ceremony with an impassioned and lively address, commemorating 18 years of the IPL and expressing gratitude to cricket enthusiasts worldwide for their steadfast support. His magnetic presence was evident as he introduced the evening's entertainers, establishing an exhilarating atmosphere for the event. SRK's memorable phrase, "Party Pathan ke ghar pe rakhoge toh mehman nawazi ke liye Pathan khud aayega aur patake bhi layega," ignited excitement among the audience, foreshadowing the spectacular fireworks—both literal and metaphorical—that were to come. Subsequently, he returned to the stage for an entertaining exchange with cricketers Virat Kohli and Rinku Singh, even joining them in dance to popular tracks like "Jhoome Jo Pathaan" and "Lutt Putt Gaya," much to the audience's enjoyment.

RCB hammer KKR by 7 wickets

Virat Kohli commenced the Indian Premier League Season with an impressive performance, scoring a half-century off just 30 balls, leading the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a seven-wicket victory over the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kohli played a pivotal role in Bengaluru's successful chase of 177 runs, finishing with an unbeaten 59 runs from 36 deliveries, thereby providing new captain Rajat Patidar with a triumphant start to the lucrative two-month T20 tournament.

Kolkata failed to take advantage of captain Ajinkya Rahane's explosive innings of 56 runs off 31 balls at Eden Gardens, managing to post a total of 174-8 after Patidar won the toss and opted to field first.

Salt, who was not retained by Kolkata for this season, was particularly aggressive against his former team during the powerplay, helping Bengaluru reach 80-0 within the first six overs.

He aggressively targeted spinner Varun Chakaravarthy, scoring 21 runs in a single over, while Kohli also displayed his attacking intent by hitting Australian fast bowler Spencer Johnson for two consecutive sixes.

Chakaravarthy eventually claimed a wicket, dismissing Salt, who was caught at short third while attempting another big shot in the ninth over.

Kohli reached his half-century by driving Harshit Rana over cover for his fourth boundary, as Bengaluru continued to score rapidly despite the loss of Salt.

Patidar contributed significantly with a brisk 34 runs off just 16 balls, hitting four boundaries in one over before being caught at mid-wicket. Liam Livingstone, with 15 not out, quickly concluded the match with a hooked six off Johnson and a boundary.
