Redfoo, renowned for his association with the music duo LMFAO, recently embarked on his professional tennis journey, albeit briefly. At the age of 49, he was granted a wildcard entry to compete in the ITF M15 tournament held in Egypt, where he faced a defeat against Norway’s Leyton Rivera, with a score of 6-1, 6-0.
Following the match, the musician took to Instagram to showcase a rally from the game that he managed to win, while also extending his best wishes to his opponent for the remainder of the tournament. "Although I lost the match, this was my finest point," he remarked in the video.
He concluded with, "Good match and best of luck, Leyton."
Redfoo, whose birth name is Stefan Kendal Gordy, is a multifaceted American artist known for his roles as a rapper, songwriter, singer, record producer, dancer, and DJ. In 2006, he co-founded the musical duo LMFAO with his half-nephew, Sky Blu.
The duo gained worldwide fame with their 2011 hit single "Party Rock Anthem," which reached the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Redfoo was previously in a relationship with former world number-one tennis player Victoria Azarenka. Their relationship began in 2012 but ended in 2013. During their time together, he attended several major tennis tournaments, including the 2012 US Open, the 2013 Australian Open, the 2013 Wimbledon, and the 2014 Australian Open, where he was seen in her player box.
In his pursuit of tennis, Redfoo attempted to qualify for the 2013 US Open as a wild card entry but was eliminated in the first round of the USTA Northern California Sectional qualifying tournament. He has also participated in events on the ITF Beach Tennis World Tour.
From 2012 to 2023, he served as a sponsor for the Red Rock Pro Open, an ITF Women’s Circuit tournament held in Las Vegas.
Reflecting on his breakup with Azarenka, he shared his thoughts in an interview with Who Magazine, stating, “We both had strong careers and we both want to support each other. It was tough.” He further expressed a desire to preserve their love, saying, “I want to cryogenically freeze the love, put it in a lab, and come back to it when everything is organized and I can appoint another captain of the ship.”
