As the semi-finals approach, fans are eagerly anticipating the much-awaited contest between seasoned batsman Virat Kohli and Australian spinner Adam Zampa. The rivalry between Kohli and Zampa has become legendary in the annals of cricket.

The confrontation between these two players will be pivotal on Tuesday, particularly as Kohli has faced challenges against wrist spinners. Compounding this issue for Kohli is the fact that the pitch in Dubai tends to favor spin bowlers.

Ambati Rayudu on Virat Kohli vs Adam Zampa

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu, speaking prior to the match, anticipated a compelling confrontation between Virat Kohli and Adam Zampa in the semi-finals, which has heightened the intrigue surrounding this contest.

In One Day Internationals, Zampa has dismissed Kohli on five occasions since 2017, conceding 245 runs while delivering 73 dot balls. However, Kohli's recent performance indicates that he may fare better against Zampa in the forthcoming match.

In an interview with JioHotstar, Rayudu remarked, “It will be Adam Zampa against Virat Kohli. Although Virat has faced challenges against leg-spinners recently, his current form in this tournament should benefit him in the match against Australia.”

Rayudu also praised Kohli, who reached his 300th ODI milestone against New Zealand. “His intent was evident, and expectations were elevated. You could see his focus and eagerness for a significant score. Virat Kohli typically rises to the occasion during crucial moments, providing us with memorable performances. Unfortunately, today, Glenn Phillips executed an extraordinary catch to dismiss him. It was simply one of those days when luck was not in his favor. However, I hope he channels this desire into a substantial innings in the semi-finals. We all wish to see him perform at his peak, and he has our unwavering support. Glenn Phillips just interrupted the celebration today,” he stated.

Kohli's most notable performance against Zampa occurred in 2019, when he scored 101 runs off 79 balls, although he was dismissed twice. Their most recent encounter in ODIs took place in 2023, where Zampa did not take Kohli's wicket but only allowed 50 runs in 52 balls.
