Since India's victory in the Champions Trophy 2025, there has been considerable speculation regarding the potential retirement of prominent players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami. While Virat and Rohit addressed these rumors on Sunday night in Dubai, many were left wondering about Ravindra Jadeja's future. On Monday, the all-rounder put an end to the speculation by posting a succinct four-word message on Instagram.

The rumors intensified after Jadeja completed his ten-over spell during the ICC Men's Champions Trophy final against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Following his final over, Virat Kohli embraced Jadeja, prompting many to speculate that the left-arm spinner might be retiring from One Day Internationals.

However, on Monday, Jadeja took to Instagram to clarify the situation, urging people not to believe in rumors or engage in gossip.

"No unnecessary rumours, thanks," Jadeja stated in his Instagram Stories.

Ravindra Jadeja quashes retirement rumours

Jadeja delivered an exceptional all-round performance in the Champions Trophy final. Over his allotted ten overs, he allowed only 30 runs and secured the crucial wicket of Tom Latham.

Subsequently, Jadeja was called upon to contribute with the bat, where he made a brief but impactful nine-run contribution off six balls, ultimately hitting the winning runs for India.

Following the victory, Jadeja celebrated exuberantly. He initiated a 'Gangnam Style' dance alongside Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh. Additionally, he lifted Gautam Gambhir, the head coach, as he rushed onto the field to join in the celebrations.

Jadeja retired from T20Is after World Cup win

Jadeja announced his retirement from T20 Internationals after India's triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He followed the examples set by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in stepping away from the shortest format of the game.

In One Day Internationals, Jadeja has accumulated 2,806 runs and taken 231 wickets. He was also a member of the squad that won the Champions Trophy in 2013.

Reflecting on the 2025 Champions Trophy victory, Jadeja shared insights into his role in finishing matches, acknowledging the challenges it presents.

"My batting position often places me in a situation where I can either be the hero or the zero at the conclusion of the game. Fortunately, Hardik and KL performed exceptionally well in the final ten overs, forming a vital partnership," Jadeja remarked during an interview with Star Sports.

"It was challenging to score runs in the middle overs, but I must credit both of them for alleviating much of the pressure from our side," he added.

When asked about the significance of the Champions Trophy, Jadeja expressed, "This is a monumental moment for me. Winning a major tournament for India fills me with immense pride. Thankfully, we have secured two consecutive ICC trophies, and we are truly delighted with this achievement."

Earlier in the match, New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a target of 251/7. India successfully chased down the total, finishing with four wickets in hand and six balls remaining.
