In the Champions Trophy match against New Zealand, senior Indian batter Virat Kohli was unable to leave a significant mark with the bat, marking his 300th One Day International (ODI) appearance. In this milestone match, Kohli scored a mere 11 runs before being dismissed by Matt Henry. Although he began the innings with promise, hitting a couple of boundaries, Glenn Phillips had other intentions, executing a remarkable one-handed catch that took everyone by surprise.

Kohli struck the ball hard and flat, but Phillips, diving to his right, astonished the audience with his exceptional catch, concluding Kohli's innings and adding yet another highlight to his impressive repertoire of catches.

Disappointed, Kohli exited the field, unable to transform his 300th ODI into a memorable occasion with the bat. The 36-year-old was later seen on the pavilion balcony, conversing with Ravindra Jadeja about the dismissal. During their discussion, Jadeja humorously mimicked Phillips' stunning catch, further emphasizing the moment.

The batting sensation regained his exceptional form in the recent match against traditional rivals Pakistan, where he achieved a remarkable century, contributing significantly to India's decisive victory in Dubai. Additionally, he reached the milestone of 14,000 runs in One Day Internationals during the encounter with Pakistan, becoming the third player in history to accomplish this feat, following Kumar Sangakkara, who amassed 14,234 runs in 404 matches with 25 centuries, and Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 18,426 runs in 463 matches with 49 centuries.

India scored 259/9 in 50 overs

India managed to score 249 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs after being invited to bat first in Dubai. The highly regarded top-order batsmen struggled significantly, with captain Rohit Sharma contributing only 15 runs, Shubman Gill scoring 2, and Virat Kohli adding 11 runs, which left India in a precarious position at 30 for 3. Nevertheless, Shreyas Iyer played a pivotal role in stabilizing the innings with a commendable 79 runs, supported by Axar Patel's 42 runs. Hardik Pandya then provided a crucial finishing effort with a score of 45, allowing India to reach a competitive total. On the bowling front, Matt Henry excelled for New Zealand, taking five wickets, while Kyle Jamieson, Rachin Ravindra, and William O'Rourke each claimed one wicket.
