Ben Duckett has once again attracted attention due to his remarks made during the recently concluded ODI series against India, further solidifying his reputation as a player who frequently faces public criticism for his statements.

After suggesting that England was indifferent to the outcomes of the ODI series against India, which culminated in a 3-0 defeat, Duckett faced significant backlash from various sectors of the English media for his seemingly casual attitude towards crucial bilateral series, especially with the ICC Champions Trophy approaching.

The latest critique of Duckett comes from former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, who addressed the issue on his YouTube channel, commenting on Duckett's recent remarks as well as his previous controversial statements.

"Regardless of what Ben Duckett claims, this series loss will significantly impact their confidence as they head into the Champions Trophy," Ashwin stated. "Duckett has made similar comments in the past, including remarks about Yashasvi Jaiswal adopting an aggressive style of play influenced by England's Bazball approach."

Duckett became the subject of numerous memes and jokes following that comment, with various attacking innings worldwide humorously attributed to him. However, Ashwin interpreted this as indicative of the current stagnation in English cricket.

"I am aware of Ben Duckett's affinity for humor, but this is no laughing matter; it appears as though he is masking failures with jokes," Ashwin cautioned, criticizing England's reaction to their significant 3-0 defeat just before the Champions Trophy.

"Moreover, their performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup was also disappointing," Ashwin continued. "This is not merely a short-term issue; it has persisted for four years. Despite possessing a highly talented squad, they have been unable to realize their potential."

England faced significant challenges during the white-ball tour of India, suffering defeats in seven matches while managing to secure only a single victory in the T20I series. The team's evident vulnerability against spin bowling, observed in both phases of the game, raises considerable concerns as they prepare for the upcoming Champions Trophy.
