The former head coach of India, Ravi Shastri, made a triumphant return to the Indian dressing room on Tuesday, delivering an inspiring address following the team's victory over Australia in the semifinals of the 2025 Champions Trophy at the Dubai International Stadium. Virat Kohli contributed a commendable 84 runs, while Mohammed Shami claimed three wickets, leading India to a four-wicket triumph and maintaining their unbeaten streak in the ICC tournament.

Shastri's visit included the presentation of the traditional 'Fielder of the Match' award. India's fielding coach, T Dilip, had nominated four players for this honor: Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Virat Kohli.

As Shastri entered the dressing room, he was met with enthusiastic applause from the players and promptly began his motivational speech.

"This is a high-pressure match. You are undoubtedly the best team in the tournament thus far. While individual talent can take you far, it is the unified effort of the team that will ultimately lead you to victory when champions compete. Today, we witnessed two champions in a high-pressure situation, showcasing their character and teamwork. Moments of brilliance in the field can be pivotal; they often serve as the turning point," Shastri remarked in a video shared by the BCCI.

The atmosphere turned light-hearted when Shastri humorously searched for Dilip, who was positioned directly behind him with the award. This prompted laughter from Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya.

Ultimately, Shastri awarded the "heavyweight medal" to Iyer for his exceptional run-out of Alex Carey during the 48th over.

'One more to go'

Following the speech and the medal presentation, Shastri engaged with all the players, exchanging handshakes. As he was departing the dressing room, Kohli reminded him, "One more to go," to which Shastri responded, "One more."

India is now poised to await the outcome of the second semifinal of the 2025 Champions Trophy, where South Africa will face New Zealand at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday. South Africa concluded their group-stage campaign undefeated, securing two victories and a draw to top Group B. Conversely, New Zealand finished second in Group A, suffering only one defeat against India.

The final match is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Dubai.
