Virat Kohli has displayed exceptional performance throughout the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025, as India prepares for their title match against New Zealand on Sunday. Prior to the tournament, Kohli faced significant scrutiny due to disappointing performances against New Zealand and Australia in the recently concluded Test series. He even took part in the Ranji Trophy, marking his long-anticipated return, yet was unable to make a notable impact there as well.

However, as the ICC event has progressed, Kohli has regained his form and currently stands as India’s leading run-scorer in the tournament, amassing 217 runs in four matches at a strike rate of 83.14.

Virat Kohli's childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma drops big prediction

In an interview with ANI, Rajkumar Sharma, the childhood coach of Virat Kohli, expressed optimism regarding India's prospects in the forthcoming match. "This is a significant match. Given India's performance in this tournament, I am hopeful they will excel and secure victory in the final. Thus far, India has triumphed in all their matches, with contributions from every player. They are functioning cohesively as a team, which gives me great confidence that they will clinch the title," he remarked.

Praising Kohli, he stated, "I am genuinely optimistic that Virat Kohli will maintain his current form and continue to perform at this level. If he sustains this quality of play, India is sure to win this game."

Kohli played a crucial role for India in the semi-finals, scoring 84 runs off 98 balls against Australia, and he also achieved a century against Pakistan during the group stage.

Varun Chakaravarthy is anticipated to be added to the squad as an additional player after making his tournament debut in the semi-finals. Given the spin-friendly conditions in Dubai, fans are eager to see the KKR spinner take the field. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav has not been in optimal form recently and may be omitted from the lineup.

For New Zealand, Matt Henry is dealing with a shoulder injury and is uncertain for the match. While he is expected to play, if he fails to recover, he may be substituted by Nathan Smith or Jacob Duffy.
