The match between RCB and PBKS in the IPL 2025 was significantly affected by rain, resulting in each innings being shortened to 14 overs on Friday. When the toss occurred in Bengaluru, Shreyas Iyer chose to bowl first. RCB experienced a severe batting collapse from the outset, losing opener Phil Salt for just 4 runs on the fourth ball of the first over.

The entry of captain Rajat Patidar raised hopes for a stabilizing partnership with Virat Kohli. However, Arshdeep Singh struck again in the third over, dismissing Kohli for a mere 1 run, leaving RCB at 21/2 after 2.4 overs. Patidar struggled to form any significant partnerships during his innings and was eventually out in the eighth over, scoring 23 runs off 18 balls. Tim David remained not out with 50 runs as RCB concluded their innings at 95/9 in 14 overs.

Chasing With a target of 96 runs, PBKS comfortably reached 98/5 in just 12.1 overs, securing a victory by five wickets. During the post-match presentation, Patidar expressed his frustration regarding his team's batting order, attributing the loss to their performance.

Only Patidar and David managed to score in double digits, while Salt, Kohli, Liam Livingstone (4), Jitesh Sharma (2), Krunal Pandya (1), Manoj Bhandage (1), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (8), and Yash Dayal (0) were all dismissed for single-digit scores.

"At first, the pitch was sticky and had two-paced behavior. However, I believe we could have performed significantly better as a batting unit. Building partnerships is crucial in batting, and we have been losing wickets at regular intervals," Patidar remarked, visibly shocked by the nature of the defeat.

In the run-chase for PBKS, Nehal Wadhera showcased impressive form, remaining not out with a score of 33 runs off 19 balls, including the decisive six that clinched the match. Following this defeat, RCB stands fourth in the IPL 2025 points table with four wins and three losses, while PBKS occupies the second position with five wins and two losses.

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will particularly feel disappointed with the outcome, as his bowling performance nearly turned the tide for RCB. In three overs, he claimed three wickets while conceding only 14 runs.
