The Royal Challengers Bengaluru are riding a wave of success after their victory over the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, in the IPL 2025 season opener on Saturday. RCB, one of the four teams that reached the Playoffs last year, delivered a remarkable performance, successfully chasing down KKR's target of 175 runs in just 16.2 overs, securing a win by 7 wickets. Following this triumph, the RCB squad took some time to relax and celebrate. With a six-day interval before their next match, the team engaged in various enjoyable activities, during which an unexpected incident involving one of their young players caught everyone off guard.
Swastik Chikara, who was acquired by RCB for his base price of ₹30 lakh, boldly ventured into Virat Kohli's personal space in a lighthearted manner. The 19-year-old opened Kohli's bag and, without permission, applied his perfume, much to the amusement of those watching. Players, including Yash Dayal and captain Rajat Patidar, were left astonished by the act.
Yash Dayal remarked, "We were in the dressing room after our last match in Kolkata. He went over to Virat Kohli's bag, took out a perfume bottle, and used it without asking. Everyone burst into laughter. He was just sitting there, gesturing."
Rajat Patidar added, "Virat bhai was right there. I was curious about what he was doing."
Swastik Chikara explained, "He's like our elder brother, isn't he? I just wanted to make sure he wasn't using a bad fragrance. So, I tried it out. When he asked me how it was, I said it was nice. I was just checking to let you know."

Virat Kohli, the big brother
When the IPL commenced in 2008, Kohli was just 18 years old, a year younger than Chikara is now. Fast forward to 2025, 17 years later, and Kohli has established himself as a legendary figure and a remarkable presence in the sport. Despite the opinions of some former Indian players, Kohli is truly a wonderful individual and an even better friend. He is always willing to assist others, and he consistently encourages his juniors, whether they are teammates or opponents. During his return to the Ranji Trophy, after being dismissed cheaply by Himanshu Sangwan, Kohli graciously signed the ball for the young Haryana bowler.
Kohli kicked off the IPL 2025 season in the same impressive manner as he concluded the previous year. As the Orange Cap holder with 741 runs, he delivered a swift half-century against KKR, finishing with an unbeaten 59 runs off 36 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes.
In contrast, Chikara, the young talent, has limited experience, having played only 2 First-Class matches, 6 List-A games, and 4 T20s for Uttar Pradesh. His performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was underwhelming, with scores of 5, 0, 7, and 3 across four innings. Prior to that, he managed scores of 41 and 12 against Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, along with a score of 21 against Haryana.
