RCB Responds Fiercely to PBKS, Shares 'Original' Virat Kohli Clip After Revenge Win: 'Every Masterpiece Has a Replica'

Following Virat Kohli's exuberant celebration directed at Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory in Chandigarh, the franchise's social media team joined Kohli in responding to the hosts. Just two days after suffering a defeat in a rain-affected home match, RCB sought retribution on Sunday by defeating Punjab by seven wickets.

Two years prior, Kohli had teamed up with the Norwegian dance group Quick Style to create a brief dance video that quickly gained popularity online. After Punjab triumphed over RCB on Friday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, in a match shortened to 14 overs per side due to rain in Bengaluru, social media influencers associated with PBKS shared a parody of that viral dance video on their account.

On Sunday, following RCB's victory in the rematch, their social media team responded by posting the original dance video, accompanied by the caption: “Every masterpiece has a copy. Stick to the original. Enjoy. #PlayBold.”

Kohli named ‘Player of the Match’ in RCB’s win

In pursuit of 158 runs, the visitors lost their opener, Phil Salt, to Arshdeep Singh in the very first over. However, RCB made a strong recovery, thanks to a remarkable second-wicket partnership of 103 runs between Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. During this innings, Kohli achieved a significant milestone by scoring his fourth half-century of the season, surpassing Australia's David Warner for the most 50-plus scores in IPL history. Kohli has now reached the 50-run mark 67 times, which includes eight centuries.

Earlier in the match, Bengaluru's spinners, Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma, each claimed two wickets, effectively limiting Punjab to a total of 157-6.

"This was a crucial game for us," remarked Kohli, who was named player of the match. "Moving from eight points to ten makes a substantial difference."

Regarding his role as an anchor, Kohli stated, "In T20 cricket, one solid partnership can be enough during a run chase. While I can accelerate, I prefer to understand the strengths of my teammates. Maintaining stability at one end is currently working well for us."

This victory marked Bengaluru's fifth consecutive win away from home, while all three of their losses this season occurred at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. They currently occupy third place on the points table, having accumulated 10 points from eight matches.
