The Philadelphia Eagles are set to face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in the much-anticipated NFL Super Bowl at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The winning team’s players, coaches, and owner will snag the prestigious Super Bowl ring, which is said to cost between $30,000 and $50,000 each, making them some of the most sought-after trophies in sports.

As fans gear up for the big game, there's a reminder of a quirky moment involving Russian President Vladimir Putin, who also has a Super Bowl ring. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has celebrated six Super Bowl victories, but he only has five rings because he gave one to Putin.

Back in 2005, Kraft was in Russia for business and met Putin. After a handshake, Kraft showed him his Super Bowl ring, which Putin took to check out, then casually pocketed it and walked off. In the NFL Film Series, Kraft shared, “Anyone lucky enough to have one knows why the ring is so special. I keep mine in a drawer with my cufflinks. All of them are in there except for my third one.”

“The original is in Russia with the president. I was there on a business trip with my buddy, Sandy Weil.

“We had just handed out our rings. I showed Sandy mine, and he suggested I show it to the president. I did, and he put it on. He seemed to like it, so he just kept it on.”

‘I could take someone out with this ring’

In 2013, he shared a story about a ring, saying, “I took it out and showed it to him. He slipped it on and said, 'I could kill someone with this.' I reached out my hand, and he just pocketed it while three KGB guys surrounded him and left.”

On a Netflix show, Kraft jokingly said, “Hey, Vladimir Putin, if you’re watching, can you give me my f***ing ring back?”

There were also reports that during George Bush’s presidency, his administration called Kraft, advising him not to ask for the ring back because of the delicate USA-Russia relations.
