The ICC has announced that the champion of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will receive a prize of US$2.24 million (approximately ₹20.8 crore) from a total prize pool of $6.9 million, reflecting a 53% increase compared to the 2017 tournament.

The runners-up will be awarded $1.12 million (around ₹10.4 crore), while each losing semi-finalist will take home $560,000 (approximately ₹5.2 crore).

Every match in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy holds significant value, with each group match victory yielding over $34,000 for the winning team. Teams finishing in fifth or sixth place will each receive $350,000, while those in seventh and eighth positions will earn $140,000.

Additionally, all eight participating teams are guaranteed $125,000 each for their involvement in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

Consequently, a team that wins the Champions Trophy by securing victories in all its matches could potentially earn up to ₹22 crore, which includes the winner's prize, guaranteed participation funds, and rewards for winning all three group matches.

However, this total is still lower than the salaries of Indian cricketers Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Venkatesh Iyer. Iyer, who led the Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL title last year, was acquired by Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore. Pant set a record as the highest buy in IPL auction history when he was signed by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 crore. KKR also invested ₹23.75 crore to reacquire Venkatesh Iyer.

The forthcoming tournament signifies the first international cricket event to take place in Pakistan since 1996, offering an exhilarating two-week competition with matches set to occur in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.

This year's tournament format features eight teams organized into two groups of four, with the leading two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.

The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy is scheduled to occur every four years, showcasing the top eight ODI teams globally, while the Women’s Champions Trophy is set to debut in 2027 in a T20 format.

ICC Chair Jay Shah remarked that the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 is a significant milestone for cricket, reinstating a tournament that showcases the highest level of ODI talent, where each match holds great importance. The considerable prize fund reflects the ICC's ongoing dedication to investing in the sport and upholding the global prestige of its events. In addition to the financial rewards, this tournament fosters intense competition, engages fans around the world, and plays a crucial role in promoting the growth and long-term viability of cricket for future generations.
