Bollywood actress and co-owner of Punjab Kings, Preity Zinta, expressed her admiration for Priyansh Arya's outstanding performance during the match against Chennai Super Kings in Chandigarh on Tuesday. The young player achieved the second-fastest century by an Indian, contributing significantly to Punjab's victory by 18 runs.

Choosing to bat first at their home ground, Punjab capitalized on Arya's explosive innings, finishing with a total of 219 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Arya displayed remarkable skill, hitting seven fours and nine sixes to secure his first IPL century, scoring 103 runs off just 42 balls. In response, Chennai struggled during the powerplay, and despite a valiant effort from the middle order, led by Shivam Dube, they ultimately fell short by 18 runs.

The day following the match, Zinta took to social media to share an extensive post reflecting on the victory and her interaction with Arya in Chandigarh after the game.

“Last night was truly extraordinary. We experienced a thrilling cricket match, the excitement of a legend, and the emergence of a promising star! I had the opportunity to meet 24-year-old Priyansh Arya, along with some of our other young players a few days prior. He was reserved, shy, and humble, not saying a word throughout the evening.”

“However, during the PBKS vs CSK match at the Mullanpur cricket stadium, I encountered him again. This time, his talent shone brightly, and his aggressive batting left not only me but all of India in awe as he made history with a remarkable 103 runs off 42 balls. I am incredibly proud of you, Priyansh Arya. You exemplify the idea that actions speak louder than words. Keep smiling and shining, and thank you for entertaining not just me but everyone who came to watch the game. Here’s to many more unforgettable moments both on and off the field," she stated.

Who will Punjab face next?

Following their victory over Chennai, Punjab will head south to face Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday. They will then return home to host the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, on April 15.

With three victories in four matches, Punjab is currently positioned fourth in the points table.
