Prasidh Krishna Reflects on KL Rahul Dismissal: "Just Bowled Normally"

Prasidh Krishna, the right-arm fast bowler, has genuinely emerged as a key player in the current Indian Premier League 2025 season, with his performances significantly contributing to Gujarat Titans consistently outperforming their competitors. Acquired by Gujarat for INR 9. 50 crore during the mega auction, Prasidh, 29, has justified the management’s trust by stepping up and delivering exceptional overs when it was most crucial.
Prasidh has taken 16 wickets in eight matches this season with an economy rate of 7. 29, effectively varying his pace. After missing the previous two editions of the IPL due to an injury, the Gujarat Titans placed their faith in the pacer, and that trust is yielding results for the 2022 IPL champions.
The Gujarat Titans are currently leading the points table, mainly due to their enhanced bowling lineup. Prasidh has established a strong partnership with Mohammed Siraj and Ishant Sharma, as the pace trio continues to unsettle the opposition. Titans captain Shubman Gill has placed complete trust in Prasidh, allowing him to bowl challenging overs in an IPL match. The fast bowler has excelled in the death overs, assisting GT in managing the run flow.
The pacer, who recently participated in the Sydney Test against Australia, attributed his success to Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra, sharing insights from their discussions leading up to the IPL 2025 season.
"I didn’t really do anything different. I think the preparation was better. I was very clear about what I wanted to work on. I ensured I put in the hours and had the right conversations with Ashish Nehra. I think one thing that I have learnt from him in the few months I have worked with him is about reading the conditions, reading the pitch, making sure you make the right decisions when you are at the top of the mark," Prasidh mentioned during JioStar Press Room.
"I think all of these things help you be more confident, and when you are confident, I think you would want to play the games, as many games as possible and make sure you contribute to your team’s victory," he continued.
Prasidh spent a significant amount of time on the sidelines due to injury but has now made a full recovery. He aspires to be included in the Test squad for the five-match Test series against England, scheduled to commence on June 20. Nonetheless, the fast bowler does not view himself as a "red-ball specialist," but his performances in the IPL demonstrate that he can indeed be an all-format player for India.
"The body is good. I’m feeling good. I’ve been able to play a lot of cricket for some time now and I’m enjoying being on the ground. And the talk about red-ball, white-ball is something, the way I look at it is very different. If you are in form, if you can hit the lengths right, if you have good control in your bowling, I think you are good enough to play any format of the game," stated Prasidh.
"Wickets are just a part of the game. I think bowling well is important," he concluded.
'KL Rahul's wicket my favourite'
Of the 16 wickets Prasidh has taken this season, his favorite is the dismissal of Delhi Capitals batter KL Rahul at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Prasidh has shared the dressing room numerous times with Rahul while representing Karnataka in domestic cricket, but the 29-year-old mentioned that KL Rahul's wicket is particularly meaningful to him.
"I would say KL Rahul's wicket was my favorite because I was feeling somewhat under pressure, the ball was moving unpredictably, and I needed to deliver that ball accurately, and fortunately, the ball swung late and got someone like KL Rahul, and that wicket was crucial to halt the momentum they had, so I would say KL's wicket is my favorite so far," Prasidh stated.
Finally, the Indian pacer mentioned that the decision to allow bowlers to apply saliva on the ball for the ongoing IPL 2025 season has benefited the bowlers, as they can gain good grip off the wicket. "It has contributed somewhat because if you observe what the ball does with saliva on it, even if it results in one out of the 120 balls being more effective, that could lead to a wicket," he explained.
"That's an additional dot ball, and if that occurs at a critical moment (when the right batsman is dismissed, it allows you to reduce the team's run rate, and regain momentum. So, it creates a chain reaction, which has certainly aided the bowlers," he concluded.
