Jasprit Bumrah is making a steady return to competitive cricket, rejoining the Mumbai Indians after being sidelined for over three months due to a back injury incurred during the tour of Australia. In his match against the formidable batting lineup of Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium, Bumrah delivered an impressive performance, recording figures of 1-21 in his four overs. He effectively maintained control and secured the vital wicket of the aggressive South African batsman Heinrich Klaasen.

As Bumrah resumed his role as the leader of the MI bowling attack, a humorous incident unfolded in the MI dugout during their bowling innings against SRH. After completing two overs in the powerplay, Bumrah returned to bowl his third over in the 16th. Observers noted that Hardik Pandya's choice to reintroduce Bumrah was influenced by the team's strategists.

Notably, MI coach Mahela Jayawardene and batting coach Kieron Pollard were seen playfully imitating Bumrah's bowling action, attempting to convey a message to Pandya. Pollard, a former teammate of both Pandya and Bumrah, humorously mimicked Bumrah's unique delivery style, clearly indicating to the MI captain whom he preferred to see take the ball at that moment.

Furthermore, as Pollard mimics Bumrah's distinctive run-up and bowling style from the dugout, Rohit Sharma is observed smiling at the West Indian's antics from the side of the screen. Rohit served as an impact substitute for MI, which meant he remained on the bench during the first innings and only came out to bat later in MI's pursuit.

MI ease to victory over SRH

Bumrah's performance in the 16th over of the SRH innings was impressive, yielding only 7 runs. The MI team effectively restricted the scoring of a formidable SRH batting lineup by maintaining precise lines and lengths on a somewhat slow and sticky pitch at Wankhede.

Bumrah's final over of the match was even more remarkable. Returning for the 19th over, he dismissed Klaasen by knocking over his off stump with a low full-toss, just after the South African had scored 21 runs in the preceding over. Bumrah allowed only 4 runs in his 19th over, which meant that despite the other MI bowlers being costly towards the end, SRH could only manage a total of 162/5 in their innings.

In reply, MI's top order delivered crucial contributions that simplified their chase, even though a couple of late wickets momentarily stalled their victory. With this win against SRH, MI has moved up to six points as they aim to ascend the IPL standings.
