Australia secured a commanding victory in the second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, showcasing their proficiency with the pink ball at the Adelaide Oval, which allowed them to level the series against India at 1-1.

The Australian triumph was significantly attributed to an outstanding bowling display from their pace attack, particularly by Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, who left the Indian batting lineup struggling to respond. India was dismissed for 180 runs in their first innings and 175 runs in their second, with no batsman managing to score a half-century.

Nevertheless, Australian supporters are keen to receive updates regarding Josh Hazlewood's condition, as one of their key bowlers was sidelined due to injury during the Adelaide Test. Following the match, Pat Cummins provided an encouraging update on his fellow fast bowler.

"(Josh Hazlewood) is scheduled to bowl tomorrow, so everything is proceeding as planned. He will bowl tomorrow, and we will evaluate his condition afterwards. But yes, everything has gone according to plan thus far," Cummins stated with optimism. "We are quite confident that he will be fit for Brisbane, and we will have more information in the coming days. If someone has to be left out, it would be quite unfortunate."

Boland shines in Hazlewood's shoes

Hazlewood emerged as Australia's standout performer despite the team's defeat at Optus Stadium in Perth, but he was unable to participate in the following match. In his absence, Scott Boland excelled at the Adelaide Oval, claiming five wickets over two innings, notably dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli during the second innings.

The standout bowlers for Australia included Mitchell Starc, who achieved his career-best figures of 6-48, continuing his impressive performance with the pink ball. Additionally, captain Cummins employed a fast, sharp, and aggressive short ball strategy on the third morning, which resulted in him securing five wickets as well. On the batting side, Travis Head was awarded player of the match for his remarkable and aggressive score of 140, which placed significant pressure on India and positioned Australia favourably for a positive outcome in his hometown.
