Sunrisers Hyderabad kick off their IPL 2025 season with a home game against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. With their strong batting lineup from 2024 still intact, a key storyline for SRH this season is whether they can surpass their own run-scoring records from last year and become the first IPL team to hit a 300-run innings.

This topic gained more attention when SRH captain Pat Cummins playfully suggested that aiming for a 300-score is on their radar, giving a nod to fans eager for a groundbreaking performance from the team in orange.

During an SRH fan event leading up to the IPL, Cummins raised three fingers and cheerfully said “Three hundred,” which was met with enthusiastic applause from the crowd.

While Cummins seemed to take the chase for 300 lightly, not all fans appreciated his attitude, and many took to social media to express their discontent.

Cummins expresses trust in the batting lineup

At the fan event, Cummins shared his thoughts on the team, saying, “Last year was truly an incredible season. If we can replicate that kind of performance, with packed stadiums and the boys showcasing their skills with both bat and ball, it’s going to be a blast. A similar team effort this year could take us far in the tournament.”

In IPL 2024, SRH was a powerhouse with the bat, posting three scores over 250 and achieving three of the four highest team totals in the tournament's history. Their top score was an impressive 287/3 against RCB, just shy of the coveted 300-mark. Travis Head’s explosive 102 off 41 balls and Heinrich Klaasen’s 67 off 31 helped set the tone, and both players are back for this season.

“Everyone is aiming for 300, and we’ve talked about it a bit, but as long as we keep winning, we’re satisfied,” Head mentioned in a video interview with iplt20.com. He added, “It’s reassuring to know we have strong players ready to step up if things don’t go smoothly at the top of the order,” highlighting why SRH is capable of chasing such high scores.
