Pat Cummins' Candid Reaction to Commentators as Australia’s Captain Tackles Rift Speculations Ahead of Pink-Ball Test

Australia's captain, Pat Cummins, has reiterated his denial of any internal conflicts within the team, in response to comments made by fast bowler Josh Hazlewood during the Perth Test, which ignited speculation regarding a possible division.
In a media session on Day 3 of the Test, Hazlewood downplayed the team's batting struggles, remarking, "You probably have to ask one of the batters that question. I'm sort of relaxing and trying to get a bit of physio and a bit of treatment, and I'm probably looking mostly towards the next Test and what plans we can do against these batters."
Hazlewood's comments were swiftly noted by commentators, with former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist suggesting that they might indicate a split within the dressing room. While covering the match for Fox Sports, Gilchrist commented, "That tells me there is potentially a divided change room. I don’t know if there is. I might be reading too much into that."
In response, Cummins was quick to dispel these rumours ahead of the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide, commencing on December 6. At a pre-match press conference, Cummins asserted that there was no division among the players.
The team is performing exceptionally well. Some commentators have completely misjudged the situation. We have prepared thoroughly, as is our custom, and we support one another. The atmosphere within the team is very positive. Therefore, we do not dwell excessively on external opinions, he remarked.
Following Australia's substantial 295-run loss to India in the first Test at Perth, concerns about a potential rift within the team have emerged. Although India faced difficulties in their initial innings, being bowled out for just 150 runs, they made a remarkable recovery to clinch the win. This defeat has intensified ongoing speculation regarding internal dynamics within the Australian squad, which has become a focal point of discussion as the second Test approaches.
Boland replaces Hazlewood
In preparation for the Adelaide Test, Australia implemented a significant alteration to their squad. Pacer Scott Boland has been included in the playing XI to take the place of the injured Hazlewood.
Boland's inclusion is expected to enhance Australia’s bowling lineup, and the team is optimistic about delivering a robust performance in the upcoming day-night match.
